GUARDIAN DEMON

1 EXT. FIELD DAY - OPENING CREDITS

 Austin and Gretchen frolic through an open field. They look longingly into each other’s eyes and spin around. Finally, they crash to the ground in a lovers embrace. Gretchen rolls over Austin. He catches her and looks up at her, brushing the hair from her face. She looks down at him.

GRETCHEN

Austin, Austin sweetie its time to wake up. Austin. (she lightly jostles him.)

AUSTIN

(looking perplexed)

What? Huh?

GRETCHEN

(shaking him a little harder)

Austin. Wake up, it’s time to wake up.

AUSTIN

(rubbing his eyes)

What? What are you talking about?

GRETCHEN

AUSTIN! WAKE UP! YOU WAKE UP RIGHT NOW!

AUSTIN

WHAT???

2 INT. AUSTINS ROOM MORNING

 Austin wakes up to find his mother inches away from his face. She yells at him to get up out of bed and get ready for school.

AUSTINS MOM

GET YOUR BEHIND UP OUT OF THIS BED!

FULL GROWN MAN!

AUSTIN

(jumps up and stumbles out of bed)

3 INT. AUSTINS ROOM – MORNING

 Austin, early 20s, gets ready to head out for the day. He checks his wardrobe and sees nothing but black t shirts. He puts on his accessories and heads out for the day.

4 EXT. STREET – DAY

 Austin skateboards down the street and heads towards the college campus where he attends classes.

5 ESTABLISHINIG SHOT - EXT. SCHOOL BUILDING – DAY

 Austin enters the building into the cafeteria and sees his friend Cy, walks over and shakes his hand.

6 INT. CAFETERIA – DAY

 Austin and Cy sit down and chit chat. They sit and talk for a bit then Austin sees his crush.

AUSTIN

Yeah man and that’s when I knew they were gonna suck. You cant trade your star running back and think you’re still gonna make the playoffs.

(He notices his crush)

(turning away)

Oh shhh, shhh look, look over there, there she is.

7 ESTABLISHING SHOT OF GRETCHEN

8 CONTINUED SHOT OF AUSTIN AND CY

CY

(turns to look but Austin scolds him)

AUSTIN

Don’t look man. She’s gonna notice you looking. Don’t make it obvious.

CY

Dude relax she’s not even looking over here. I don’t know why you just don’t go over and talk to her. She seems down to earth.

AUSTIN

Down to earth. DOWN TO EARTH? Man, you don’t bring an angel down to earth you gotta rise to the stratosphere and them where they live.

(looking up)

In heaven.

CY

Wow that is very corny. Oh look, here she comes.

AUSTIN

(startled)

WHERE?

CY

(laughs at him)

9 INT. CAFETERIA – DAY

They are approached by a group of classmates who have a problem with Austins aesthetic.

AUSTIN

Here we go.

LEE

Well, well, well boys. Look what we have here. Looks like a little devil worshipping convention.

CYRUS

Dude come on. Give us a break. You know I’m not a devil worshipper. We go to the same church.

LEE

Ok sure CYRAX.

AUSTIN

What is your problem?

LEE

(getting in Austin’s face)

My problem is ,devil worshipping weirdos come to MY school and making it hard for good decent people like us. (gestures to his friends.)

AUSTIN

But aren’t you the ones making it hard for me? All I’m doing is sitting here.

JUNE

Hey man why don’t you just shut up alright. (He notices a bottle of water on the table.) As a matter of fact, it looks like you guys could use some holy water. (He begins to pour the contents of the bottle on Austin’s head.)

AUSTIN

(takes a swipe at the bottle but Jun moves it

 just in time.)

CY

Dude that is not cool.

AUSTIN

You guys are children alright.

JUNE

Funny you called us children but you’re the one who wet himself.

(The group of bullies laugh and high five each other.)

LEE

Oh look, he had an accident.

(The laughter continues)

AUSTIN

Ha, ha you guys are hilarious.

9 CONTINUED

Austin then stands to confront the bullies but decides to walk away. As he is leaving Cy tells him to wait up and chases after him. Austin leaves the cafeteria and goes down a hallway to a bathroom to clean up.

10 INT. BATHROOM

As he is washing his hands and checking himself in the mirror Cyrus comes in behind.

CY

Hey man you ok? Don’t let those guys get to you. They’re just jerks but they’re harmless.

AUSTIN

I’m not worried about those guys.

CY

Come on, let’s go to class.

11 INT. SCHOOL – CUTSCENES

people going to and from class in the school.

12 EXT. SCHOOL BUILDING

 Austin and Cy shake hands and depart ways. Austin skateboards down the street and comes upon an old bookstore.

13 ESTABLISHING SHOT – EXT. BOOK STORE – DAY

Austin enters the store and looks around. The cashier speaks to him, and he acknowledges him but basically ignores him.

CASHIER

Can I help you with something?

AUSTIN

No, I’m just looking around.

CASHIER

Ok just make sure you buy something. This isn’t a library.

(reads a magazine)

AUSTIN

(under his breath)

Whatever man. Wack old library anyway.

13 CONTINUED – Austin walks around until he finds an interesting book.

AUSTIN

Whoa what the heck. This book looks crazy. Theres gotta be something in here that I can find.

(He takes the book to the front counter.)

CASHIER

(dead pan)

Find everything ok?

(scans the book)

AUSTIN

Yeah man this is it. Just the book.

CASHIER

(frustrated. Continues to scan the book)

I’m sorry this thing wont scan.

AUSTIN

Guess that means its free right?

(chuckles)

CASHIER

(again, deadpan makes eye contact with Austin)

No. that’s not what that means at all.

(the book finally scans and the cashier breaks deadpan)

That’ll be $111

AUSTIN

(shocked)

WHAT?! For a book?

CASHIER

(again, making eye contact and sliding a packet of gum across the counter)

Did you want something else?

AUSTIN

No man that’s it just the book.

(he hands the cashier his card)

CASHIER

(takes the card and swipes it)

(smiling)

Alright you’re good to go. Have a nice day.

AUSTIN

(takes the book and leaves)

Yeah man thanks.

14   CUTSCENES – Austin skates home

15   INT. AUSTINS ROOM – NIGHT

 As he sits in his room scrolling on his phone Austin remembers the book. He opens it up and starts reading. He notices a “spell” said to summon a demon.

AUSTIN

Audite me diaboli, habeo dominium omnium rerum

15 CONTINUED

 As he starts to read the spell, a bright light starts to shine and the wind begins to blow, scaring Austin who is currently Indoors. He shuts the book, and the wind dissipates, and the light goes away. He thinks to himself for a moment and takes the book outside to his backyard.

16 EXT. AUSTIN’S BACKYARD

Austin puts the book down and begins to read the spell again.

AUSTIN

AUDITE ME DIABOLI, HABEO DOMINIUM OMNIUM RERUM! OMNIUM MIDUCE! OMNIUM QUI SUNT! ET ERUNT VIVORUM ET MORTORUM!

As he reads the light reappears and the wind is even stronger. The light becomes extremely bright, and a demon appears.

AUSTIN

(terrified)

What are you?

DEMON

And what are you?

AUSTIN

(confused)

I asked you first.

DEMON

And I asked you second.

AUSTIN

(still confused)

So… are you a?

DEMON

I am one who was before your kind was created. I am of the great beings that came before. I am.

AUSTIN

You are my PROPERTY

(Austin dances around happily)

DEMON

(groans)

17 INT. AUSTINS ROOM – NIGHT

Austin and the demon discuss the next steps.

AUSTIN

So how does this work? Do I get like 3 wishes or something?

DEMON

I’m a demon not a genie. I’m only here because you summoned me. I am not here to grant you any wishes. And if I had my way, I would be dragging your rotting carcass back to hell right now.

AUSTIN

(stares blankly at the demon)

Yeah well… you don’t have it your way. This isn’t burger king. So… it’s my way. I’m the burger king.

DEMON

(looks puzzled at Austin)

I thought you said this was indeed NOT a burger king. Now you proclaim yourself the king of burgers. You are not the king of burgers I am the king of burgers. I will rule your entire burger kingdom.

AUSTIN

You aren’t the king of anything I’m in charge man. I summoned you. I command you and you obey me.

DEMON

(charges at Austin but is prevented from hurting him because of the incantation)

AUSTIN

(realizing the situation)

Yeah. That’s right.

DEMON

The first chance I get, I will break free from these chains. And I swear on all that is unholy I am going to mess you up.

AUSTIN

(unbothered)

Yeah, yeah. So anyway. Here’s my plan. I need you to help me seduce Gretchen. She’s a girl I go to school with, and she is so hot. (he pauses to think about Gretchen)

DEMON

Seduce? I am not a lust demon. I am a demon of vengeance. You should have summoned my brother Asmodeus.

AUSTIN

(mockingly)

Well, I didn’t summon Asmodeus. I summoned you. Can’t you just ask him to do it for you?

DEMON

I will not

AUSTIN

Why not?

DEMON

Because I hate him

AUSTIN

So what?

DEMON

So, then I will not do it

AUSTIN

(rubs his eyes in frustration)

Look you’re going to do it. I summoned you and I call the shots. So, ask your brother, sister, cousin, uncle, I don’t care, just get it done. Capiche? (he taps the demon’s cheek)

DEMON

(puzzled)

Capiche?

AUSTIN

Yeah, and I got a couple other lil ops we can take care of too while we’re at it.

DEMON

This all sounds ridiculous and fool hardy and will certainly end in tragedy for you. I love it. Count me in.

AUSTIN

(gets in bed)

Whatever dude. I’m going to bed. We’ve got a big day ahead of us. Get some sleep or whatever demons do. Torment some souls or something. Good night.

DEMON

Torment your soul

18 INT. AUSTINS ROOM – MORNING

Austin wakes up with a start and hops out of bed. He hurriedly gets dressed and tries to head out the door, but his mom calls out to him.

AUSTIN

(close up)

AUSTINS MOM

Are you up yet?

AUSTIN

Yuh, yes mama I’m up.

AUSTINS MOM

WELL THEN GET OUT BEFORE YOURE LATE FOR SCHOOL!

AUSTIN

Yeah, yes mama

DEMON

(from behind Austin)

Why do you let this harlot address you so?

AUSTIN

(startled)

AHH! Oh man its just you. That’s my mom alright and she aint no harlot.

DEMON

We keep a record of your actions in hell, and I can assure you that she is a harlot.

AUSTIN

(pauses to contemplate)

Did you just call my mama a hoe?

DEMON

No. I very clearly called her a harlot.

AUSTIN

Look man we need to get a couple things straight alright? I’m in charge and you gonna do what I tell ya when I tell ya and nothing else, you got it? And don’t be calling my mama a hoe.

DEMON

Again, I never called your mother any type of gardening utensil.

AUSTIN

Whatever man I gotta go

(begins to walk out)

Are you coming?

DEMON

You instructed me to do nothing besides what you instruct me to do, and you haven’t instructed me to do anything.

AUSTIN

(frustrated)

Well alright then do what you were gonna do but also do what I tell you to do capiche? You remember that don’t you?

DEMON

(begrudgingly)

19 EXT. ROAD – DAY

Austin sees the group of guys who were giving him a hard time previously. He ducks down so as not to be seen.

AUSTIN

(ducking down and pulling the demon down with him)

Hey look. Look man look right over there look, look there they go.

DEMON

They who? And why are you ducking down?

AUSTIN

(gesturing to the demon to duck down)

Man get down before someone sees you.

DEMON

You summoned me imbecile. Therefore, you are the only one who can see me. Did you read anything from that book?

AUSTIN

Yeah, I read it ok. I didn’t read every word on every page so sue me.

DEMON

Who are these miscreants

who torment you so?

AUSTIN

The guys I was telling you about. They don’t like my aesthetic, so they been beefing with me. But now I got something for em. Do something to em. Send some hell fire or something out the ground and burn em up or something.

DEMON

(laughs)

You think me Samael, to burn them alive with hell fire? You want me to cause mount Vesuvius to erupt underneath them as well? This human is truly ridiculous.

AUSTIN

HEY! I summoned you remember? And that means that I can send you BACK! So, you better start doing what you’re told, or you can kiss this lil vacay GOODBYE!

DEMON

Very well

(he begins to focus in on the group)

20 EXT. ROAD – DAY

A vehicle comes barreling down the road as Lee, June and Thomas cross the street. The driver is distracted and hits Lee. June and Thomas rush to him, but he’s done. Austin sees it and is immediately overcome with a sense of guilt. As he looks on, June and Thomas see him. Austin lashes out at the demon.

AUSTIN

AY YO MAN WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?

DEMON

Why did I do what?

AUSTIN

You killed him!

DEMON

Well technically it was the impact from the vehicle that did that.

AUSTIN

COME ON MAN! YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

(he begins to pace, and he notices June and Thomas)

Come on man. COME ON! WE GOTTA GO!

DEMON

Very well. Fair the well miscreant. May your stay in hell be an unbearable one.

21 EXT. STREET - DAY

Austin walks down the street upset about what has just happened.

AUSTIN

Man, dude I can’t believe you just did that.

DEMON

You cannot believe that I followed your direct order, after you not only ordered me to follow your orders but also ordered the order?

AUSTIN

(stops and looks at the demon)

Ay man just shut up alright. I’m trying to think. I don’t think nobody saw me. and I know they didn’t see you. Still. Did you see the way June was looking? I think he knows somethings up.

DEMON

For you to be a wizard capable of summoning demons you certainly are a coward.

22 EXT. STORE - DAY

Austin ducks into a store to get away from the scene of the crime.

23 INT. STORE - DAY

As he walks around, he notices Gretchen shopping with her mom.

AUSTIN

Oops oh man watch out!

DEMON

What is the conundrum this time?

AUSTIN

Conundrum? Man, I don’t even know what that is, but this is the girl I’ve been talking about.

DEMON

(looks around)

Her?

AUSTIN

(mockingly)

Her? Yes her. Man, that’s Gretchen. She’s so fine. That’s the girl I been telling you about.

DEMON

Well then why do you cower here behind the assorted food stuffs instead of ascending the throne and taking her as your concubine?

AUSTIN

(confused)

WHAT? Man, what the hell are you talking about? That’s why I summoned you. YOURE GOING TO HELP ME SEDUCE HER!

DEMON

(roars frustrated)

I HAVE ALREADY DECLARED TO YOU THAT I AM NOT A LUST DEMON!

AUSTIN

Rust, dust, crust I don’t care just do what I asked.

DEMON

I am unable to do such a thing.

AUSTIN

(exacerbated)

(smacks)

Useless

DEMON

What did you say to me?

AUSTIN

I said that you’re useless alright. I summoned you for one thing and you cant even do that right.

DEMON

Do you have any idea how many souls I have tormented? Were you there when I led the horde of hell at the command of Azazel?

AUSTIN

Who?

DEMON

(roars in anger)

AUSTIN

Look here she comes man hurry up and do your little magic thing like you did earlier.

DEMON

(scoffs begrudgingly)

Fine. Asmodeus. Brother. I beseech thee on behalf of this pathetic mortal.

24 INT. STORE - DAY

As a man passes by, he is suddenly possessed by Asmodeus and the demon makes a bargain with him.

ASMODEUS

Hello brother. Long time no see.

DEMON

Yes, brother and I’d hoped it would have been much longer before I experienced the dissatisfaction of your presence.

ASMODEUS

Then why call out to me like a lone pup in search of his mummy?

DEMON

I have been summoned by this feeble human and he makes a request. He desires the adoration of that female there. I have apprised him of the fact that I am in fact not a lust demon and that is something more in line with your forte.

ASMODEUS

And concern is any of this to me?

DEMON

The boys soul

ASMODEUS

Go on.

DEMON

I have no use for it. I require another more worthy vessel in order to take my rightful place as ruler of this world. Therefore, do this act for me, and I shall furnish his soul to thee upon his imminent demise.

ASMODEUS

(ponders a moment)

Well brother it appears we have ourselves a little bargain.

25 INT. STORE – DAY

Asmodeus begins to focus on Gretchen. She begins to come under the demonic influence and becomes infatuated with Austin.  He walks over to her as she's leaving. As she sees him an uncontrollable feeling takes over her and she flirts with him and gives him her number.

DEMON

Come human, the deed is done.

AUSTIN

Ok, ok man don’t rush me.

DEMON

Fear will not assist you.

AUSTIN

I aint scared.

DEMON

Well then go

AUSTIN

Ok, ok here I go.

(walks past Gretchen)

GRETCHEN

Hey wait! (grabbing Austin) You’re um Andrew, right?

AUSTIN

Um hi its uh Austin actually but you can call me Andrew if you want. (chuckles nervously)

GRETCHEN

Why would I call you that if your name is Austin?

DEMON

He’s going to blow it

ASMODEUS

Impossible. Watch and see.

AUSTIN

Huh oh no that was, I was just joking.

GRETCHEN

(confused)

Oh, ok well anyway. Why haven’t I seen you around? Where have you been hiding?

AUSTIN

Mostly in my room. My mom is …

DEMON

(gestures in disapproval at Austin)

AUSTIN

I mean that is to say um ya know I’m usually around we probably just missed each other.

DEMON

(makes signs of approval)

GRETCHEN

Well, I don’t want to miss you again. Here give me your hand.

(Austin reaches out his hand and

Gretchen writes her number on his palm)

Call me. (she exits)

AUSTIN

(holding his hand up in disbelief, does a celebratory dance)

DEMON

Let’s go before you make an even bigger fool of yourself.

26 EXT. HOSPITAL – DAY

June and Thomas stand outside the hospital. June paces back and forth. Thomas stands looking worried. The ghost of Lee comes out to join them.

JUNE

I know that weirdo Austin had something to do with what happened to Lee.

THOMAS

Dude relax he wasn’t even around

JUNE

(yelling)

YES, HE WAS! I SAW HIM! HE WAS WATCHING THE WHOLE THING!

THOMAS

So what? So were we. Did we have something to do with it?

LEES GHOST

You’re right y’know

JUNE

(jumps startled)

What, what are you doing here?

THOMAS

What do you mean? I’m here to see Lee just like you.

LEE

Not you idiot

JUNE

(looking at Lees ghost beside Thomas)

Yeah, not you.

LEE

That friggin weirdo got a demon to kill me.

JUNE

WHAT?

Thomas

What?

LEE

Yeah

JUNE

I KNEW IT!

THOMAS

You knew what? Dude, are you ok? What’s going on?

JUNE

COME ON!

27 EXT. AUSTINS ROOM – NIGHT

Austin is ecstatic about the fact that he has Gretchen’s phone number. He dances around the room and sings to himself, much to the demons dismay.

DEMON

What are you doing?

AUSTIN

Celebrating

DEMON

What is the cause of your jubilation?

AUSTIN

What? What do you mean? Did you see what happened? I pulled Gretchen. I was all. (pauses and makes a face) wussup girl? How you doin?

DEMON

You did nothing of the sort. Asmodeus caused her to lust after you. She had no choice.

AUSTIN

Whatever man don’t be hating on my game. (scoffs)

DEMON

The totality of your game is to summon a demon who summoned yet another demon to force a woman to lust for you because it was impossible to do it yourself.

AUSTIN

(stops what he was doing)

Hey man what is your problem?

DEMON

(ROARING)

MY PROBLEM IS I AM BOUND BY AN INCANTATION TO YOU! THE ABSOLUTE WORST POSSIBLE CANDIDATE FOR DEMON POSSESSION! YOU DO NOT DESIRE RICHES OR POWER ONLY THE ADORATION OF A SOLITARY FEMALE!

AUSTIN

What’s wrong with that?

DEMOM

(groans with frustration)

AUSTIN

(placing a hand on the demons shoulder)

Hey, I tell you what. How bout I put some coals on the pit so you can lay down? You must be home sick.

(he laughs and goes back to singing and dancing around the room)

DEMON

(to himself)

Wait until I find my freedom. I will make this human suffer.

28 INT. SCHOOL – DAY

Austin enters the school sans the demon and runs into Cy. Austin is looking weak and frail.

CY

(stopping Austin who’s trying to ignore him)

Hey man what’s been up?

AUSTIN

(nonchalantly)

Nothing, nothing just chilling that’s all

CY

Well did you hear what happened to Lee?

AUSTIN

Naw why what happened?

CY

DUDE! He got hit by a car! He died at the hospital! You didn’t hear about that!

AUSTIN

I mean yeah. I just heard it. From you.

CY

(shakes his head in frustration)

YOU WERE THERE! THEY SAW YOU!

AUSTIN

(confused)

Who saw me?

CY

Who do you think? June and Thomas. They’re saying you had something to do with it. That you stood there and watched like you knew it was coming. (tears in his eyes)

AUSTIN

Ay I didn’t have nothing to do with any of this? What I can’t just be walking down the street, and somebody get hit by a car? People get hit by cars everyday b. he be aight.

CY

(YELLING)

NO, HE WONT! HE IS DEAD! DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ME?!?

Gretchen approaches and begins speaking to Austin.

GRETCHEN

Hey, hey Austin you um you never called. I was worried.

AUSTIN

(aloofly)

Yeah, it wasn’t any problem just ya know busy.

GRETCHEN

Oh, ok well am I gonna see you?

AUSTIN

You see me right now.

GRETCHEN

Oh, ok then well I guess bye

28 CONTINUED

As Gretchen begins to walk away Cy slaps Austin on his arm.

CY

Hey, you idiot, what are you doing?

AUSTIN

(snatching his arm away)

Ouch! I’m doing me and don’t slap me no more.

(he weakly slaps by at Cy)

CY

Well, you’re about to let the girl you’ve been pining over for a year and a half walk away after she just gave you a bigger green light than a Nascar track.

AUSTIN

Oh yeah

CY

Oh yeah? OH YEAH? Is that the best you can come up with is OH YEAH? Dude what is wrong with you?

(he shakes his head and begins to walk off)

AUSTIN

(ponders the situation then goes after Gretchen)

Hey Gretch wait up

(he runs after Gretchen)

GRETCHEN

Could you not call me gretch? It kinda sounds like wretch, you know like a wretch like (makes a vomit motion) or like the grinch and I don’t wanna steal Christmas.

AUSTIN

Yeah, right ok my bad, Gretchen. So, what are you doing right now?

     GRETCHEN

Well, I’m just going to class. Because I’m at school right now.

AUSTIN

You wanna skip class and come back to my place?

GRETCHEN

(giddily)

OK!

29 INT. AUSTINS HOUSE – DAY

Austin and Gretchen relax in Austins room. Austin tries to put the moves on Gretchen but even with the demons influence she’s still not into him.

GRETCHEN

(looking around Austins room)

Well, this is …nice.

AUSTIN

Thanks. I decorated myself.

GRETCHEN

(smiles and nods)

AUSTIN

(hopping up off of the bed)

Hey, are you thirsty? I can make us something to drink.

GRETCHEN

(pushing Austin back down)

NO! no. ill get it. I… wanna serve you?

AUSTIN

But you don’t even know where the cups are.

GRETCHEN

I can figure it out. It’s a kitchen. I’ve been in a kitchen before. Besides, isn’t the woman supposed to get drinks?

AUSTIN

(laughs cockily, leaning back with his hands behind his head)

Yeah. Yeah, that’s true. you do that.

30 INT. AUSTINS KITCHEN – EVENING

Gretchen prepares drinks for herself and Austin. As she rummages through the kitchen she finds sleeping pills. She takes one and puts it in Austins drink. She begins to leave but then turns and puts a few more in the drink. She turns to leave again but then turns and pours the entire bottle in the glass. She then returns to Austin.

31 AUSTINS ROOM – EVENING

Gretchen gives the drink to Austin, and he takes it. She is anxiously waiting for him to drink it, but he stalls over and over.

AUSTIN

(taking the drink and putting it to his lips)

Thank you

GRETHCEN

(anticipating him drinking the spiked drink watches intently)

AUSTIN

(quickly pulling the cup away from his lips)

But first a toast

GRETCHEN

(reacts to this with frustration but she does her best to hide it)

AUSTIN

To first love and last love

(he raises his eyebrows towards Gretchen)

GRETCHEN

Yes, yes to love to desire to all hells fire

(she laughs nervously)

AUSTIN

(he looks quizzically at Gretchen putting the drink to his lips once again before again pulling it away)

So, you really into that goth stuff huh?

GRETCHEN

Yeah. Aren’t you?

AUSTIN

Huh oh what yeah totally but you’re REALLY into it. Well, down the hatch.

(he downs the entire content)

GRETCHEN

(watching intently as he finishes off the contents)

AUSTIN

(belches)

mmm… that was good. What you put in that? Put a little nutmeg in there. Got some (he begins to feel the effects of the drugs) got a little (he begins to ramble)

     GRETCHEN

(watching with gleeful anticipation)

AUSTIN

32 INT. AUSTINS ROOM – NIGHT

Gretchen walks around the room. The demon is present but not visible to Gretchen at this point. Eventually she finds the book and the demon whispers in her ear. She takes the book and runs out of the house and down the street.

33 EXT. STREET – NIGHT

June and Thomas are walking down the street, and the ghost of Lee is tormenting June.

LEE

So, you’re really just gonna let him kill me?

JUNE

(shouting)

NO!

THOMAS

(confused)

No what?

JUNE

THOMAS

LEE

I wonder why he can’t see me. You can see me though, right? And you can hear me?

JUNE

THOMAS

JUNE& LEE

(both shouting)

THOMAS

WELL THEN WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO?

JUNE

(turns around in frustration and continues walking)

LEE

Tell him. Tell him you see me. Maybe he just needs to know I’m here then he could see me too.

JUNE

(stopping and getting in ghost Lees face)

June walks off and Thomas walks quickly behind him.

33 EXT. FIELD – NIGHT

Gretchen now has the book and summons the demon

GRETCHEN

Audite me diaboli. Habeo dominium omnium rerum. Omnium miduce. Omnium qui sunt. Et erunt vivorum et mortorum.

A bright light appears, and the wind blows as the demon appears. He walks over to Gretchen.

DEMON

(extremely close to Gretchen)

Do you wish to be possessed by me?

GRETCHEN

(nodding her head)

Yes

(weakly)

DEMON

Very well then.

34   INT. AUSTINS ROOM – DAY

Austin wakes up and is immediately sick. He stumbles to his feet and drags himself out of the room.

35 EXT. STREET - DAY

Austin stumbles down the street heading towards Gretchen’s house.

36 EXT. GRETCHEN’S HOUSE – DAY

Austin bangs on the door weakly. Gretchen opens it and questions why he’s come.

GRETCHEN

(demons voice)

What are you doing here peasant?

AUSTIN

I know…I know you took the book. Now give it, give it back.

GRETCHEN/DEMON

(laughs)

She only did what she had to do to have what she wanted.ME! she and I are one now. You can have the book.

Gretchen shoves the book into Austins chest, and he stumbles backward. She slams the door in his face.

37 EXT. TRANSITION SHOT GRETCHENS FRONT DOOR/ STREET

Austin walks down the street to his friend Cy’s house. He knocks on the door and Cy answers.

AUSTIN

Cy man I need your help.

CY

Man get the hell away from my door.

AUSTIN

(pleading)

Man listen I gotta tell you something.

CY

(sighs but listens to Austin)

Go on.

AUSTIN

(shows Cy the book)

I used this book. And I summoned a demon. That’s what happened to Lee. And now it has Gretchen.

CY

(stares blankly at Austin)

Yeah, Bruh you either real high or real crazy either way I’m good.

(he turns to leave but Austin stops him)

AUSTIN

CY PLEASE MAN I NEED YOUR HELP DUDE IM SERIOUS!!!

CY

(turns around and stares coldly at Austin)

If you don’t get yo hands off of me RIGHT NOW!

(he snatches away Austin)

AUSTIN

(again pleading)

MAN PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE OK WAIT OK I CAN SHOW YOU!

(he begins to read the incantation and the wind and light appear again.)

(He slams the book shut and the wind stops, and the light goes away)

CY

(stares blankly and babbles)

AUSTIN

Come on bro please. I need your help.

CY

Oh ok. Come on, what do we need to do?

AUSTIN

The demon has Gretchen. We gotta go find her and help her man it’s all my fault.

CY

Why don’t you just do whatever you did the first time and get the demon back?

AUSTIN

Nah man I’m done with this we need to get the demon out of her and send it back where it came from.

CY

Alright man come on lets go.

38 EXT. STREET – DAY

Cy and Austin make their way towards Gretchen’s house. As they do, they are approached by June and the ghost of Lee with Thomas in tow.

LEES GHOST

(pointing from a distance)

Look there they go. Let’s go get em

JUNE

THOMAS

Got who.

June approaches Austin and pushes him. In his weakened state he cant fight back. Cy steps in but June ignores him.

JUNE

So

AUSTIN

So what?

LEE

Don’t just stand there. Punch him.

JUNE

(punches Austin)

Cy and Thomas step in to stop the fight but June grabs Austin and tackles him, punching him as Lees ghost cheers him on. The two of them are finally able to pull June off of Austin who once again reads the incantation to summon the demon but stops short once the light and wind appear.

AUSTIN

June and Thomas stand stunned.

JUNE

(confused)

What, what the hell was that?

CY

THAT’S what we been trying to tell you. Austin summoned a demon. Now that demon has Gretchen.

AUSTIN

And that’s who killed Lee. I’m sorry. I saw it happen, but I didn’t mean for it to go down like that.

JUNE

(yelling)

SO, YOU ADMIT IT! YOU CAUSED THAT!

AUSTIN

No, I didn’t! he did it on his own

LEES GHOST

Yeah, yeah, he’s basically admitting he did it. Mess him up.

JUNE

(to lees ghost)

No let me think. Ok so you’re saying Gretchen has the demon now. So, what is your plan?

AUSTIN

We gotta exercise the demon.

CY

Yeah, but how? Have you ever done an exorcism?

AUSTIN

No but there’s gotta be something in the book, right?

CY

AUSTIN

(looks through the book)

JUNE

(snatches the book from Austin)

Man look we need some professional help. He’s gonna take forever to read this.

CY

39 JUMP CUT – EXT. – GRETCHENS HOUSE - DAY

A car pulls up and a priest hops out. He walks over to the group of boys with a disapproving look on his face. He wags his finger at them and scolds them.

CY

Hi father, thanks for coming on such short notice.

PRIEST

(looking around)

You boys should have known better. Messing around with this stuff is no joke. You are messing with serios spiritual stuff here.

AUSTIN

I know it’s just that I

(the priest interrupts him)

PRIEST

AHT, AHT! Listen, I’m here to do an exorcism, so lets do an exorcism. Lets get going.

40 EXT. GRETCHENS FRONT DOOR – DAY

The group knock on Gretchen’s door, she answer and lets them in.

40 CONTINUOUS SHOT

The group goes in and the door closes. After a beat the priest comes running out, gets in his car and peels out down the street.

41 INT. GRETCHENS HOUSE – DAY

The group confronts the demon/Gretchen, and a fight ensues.

DEMON GRETCHEN

Aww did you boys come to play with me?

AUSTIN

We came to stop you

DEMON GRETCHEN

(laughs)

You and what army?

JUNE

This one

(he punches demon Gretchen, but it has no effect, and she slaps him across the room)

CY

(looking at June laid out on the floor)

Hey man that’s a woman what are you doing

(demon Gretchen grabs him by the throat and lifts him off the ground)

DEMON GRETCHEN

You could never stop me

(laughs)

THOMAS

(breaks a vase over demon Gretchen’s head and knocks her out)

The group look around at each other

CY

So, what now

42 INT. GRETCHENS ROOM – NIGHT

Gretchen is now laying prone on her bed. The guys go around the room tying her down. Austin is tying her legs spread eagle when Cy notices.

CY

What are you doing?

AUSTIN

I’m tying her legs to the bed

CY

(looking at Austin quizzically)

Uh hello?

AUSTIN

What?

CY

TIE HER LEGS TOGETHER!

AUSTIN

Gretchen is now tied in a cross pose on the bed when she wakes up and struggles against the rope.

Gretchen

(in Gretchen’s voice)

What are you guys doing?

JUNE

She’s awake

GRETCHEN

(pleading)

Please you guys don’t hurt me I’m sorry. Ill do whatever you want.

AUSTIN

(going to her side)

Its ok Gretchen I’m here baby I wont let anything hurt you.

DEMON GRETCHEN

(to Lees ghost who is now in the room)

Human, serve me and I will make your place in hell bearable.

Lees ghost begins to attack Austin, but he can’t see him and doesn’t know what’s happening. Cy tries to help him but then lees ghost attacks him as well. June tries to assist but then lees ghost attacks him. As he does the wind and the light reappear.

LEES GHOST

(to June)

Sorry buddy

DEMON GRETCHEN

(laughs)

AUSTIN

We gotta, we gotta get the book. It’s the only way.

CY

YOU GET IT! YOU STARTED THIS!

AUSTIN

(gets the book and starts reading but Lees ghost knocks it out of this hand)

As lees ghost is attacking Austin and cy June looks on. He begins with lee to stop and let them exorcise the demon.

JUNE

What are you doing?!

LEES GHOST

WHAT YOU COULDN’T!

JUNE

What do you want me to do? make them like you? You want me to end them?

LEES GHOST

YES!

JUNE

I cant do that. And neither can you. If you want redemption, you have to stop.

LEES GHOST

(stops and thinks for a moment)

BUT LOOK AT WHAT THEY’VE DONE!

JUNE

(turns away in frustration)

DEMON GRETCHEN

Now that Lees ghost has stopped attacking them Cy and Austin can look through the book for a spell to exorcise the demon.

AUSTIN

I... I can’t find it. I can’t find anything man. It’s hopeless. Here! (He shoves the book at Cy)

CY

(Takes the book and opens it. He frantically flips pages until he finds what he’s looking for.)

I FOUND IT! I FOUND!

AUSTIN

Oh, thank God!

CY

(Looks at him sideways.)

AUSTIN

You know what I mean just tell me the spell.

CY

Ok repeat after me. Audite me diaboli.

AUSTIN

CY

(the group watch as the demon is transported back to hell)

The light vanishes and the wind dies down. The four boys collapse down on the ground from exhaustion. They all laugh as the situation finally sinks in.

GRETCHEN

Uh can you guys untie me?

THE ENTIRE GROUP

(gets up and apologizes profusely, untying Gretchen and helping her up. They all once again flop down with exhaustion)

GRETCHEN

(sitting)

So, uh yeah. Can yall get out of my house?

THE ENTIRE GROUP

(nod in agreement and make their way out of the house)

43 EXT. GRETCHENS DOOR – NIGHT

As the group leaves, Austin turns to talk to Gretchen, but she slams the door in his face.

ROLL CREDITS

44 INT. - BOOK STORE - DAY    POST CREDIT SCENE

Austin tries to return the book, but they have a no returns policy.

AUSTIN

Hi, I’d like to return this book.

CASHIER

(dryly looks at Austin, picks up the book and thoroughly inspects it before putting it back down)

Sorry no returns

AUSTIN

But I have a receipt.

CASHIER

(breathes a long deep sigh while maintaining eye contact)

Ok let me see it.

AUSTIN

(digs through his pocket and retrieves the receipt, he hands it to the cashier)

CASHIER

(takes the receipt and thoroughly inspects it before balling it up and throwing it in the trash)

(Austin and the cashier stare at each other for a long moment.)

AUSTIN

Ok I’m just gonna go

CASHIER

(dryly)

Thanks for shopping with us. Come back any time.

45 INT. STORE – DAY

The priest is going shopping. As he enters the store, he sees Gretchen and immediately turns and runs away. He hops back into his car and peels out.

46 EXT. GRETCHENS HOUSE – DAY

Austin has come to check on Gretchen. He knocks on the door and her mom answers. She lets him in.

AUSTIN

Hi, I’m here to see Gretchen

GRETCHENS MOM

Oh, hi sweetie, you must be her friend from school. Go on in she’s just in the back in her room.

Austin walks to Gretchen’s room and lightly knocks on the door. He enters to find her on top of the demon.
